It is certainly possible to get beach waves with a curling iron. Read further to discover 5 easy steps to creating a beach wave with a curling iron.

Curling irons have been around for many a year now and they are wonderful for a beachy wave. Curling irons are specifically produced to curl your hair, therefore they are a great tool to use to make loose beachy waves.  Let’s have a look at an easy way to get beach waves with a curling iron.

Step 1: Prepare your hair

Blow dry your hair as you normally would. The main objective being to dry your hair and straighten it as much as possible with the blow dryer. If you have curly hair, the objective is to get primarily the root of your hair straight.

I like to use some kind of bow dry serum in the hair. Brocato has a great serum called Miracle repair blow dry serum. This is a heat-activated serum that conditions your hair and enriches it. It makes it easier for your brush to glide through your hair and actually makes your hair stronger. Importantly though it aims to protect your hair from heat damage.

Then spray with hairspray. I know it sounds a little premature but it actually helps the curl to “set” in your hair.  A favourite hairspray is again a Brocato product. The Powerfix Firm Hold Hairspray. This hairspray helps with added texture but also aids to lock in curls…thats what we want here!

Step 2: Section hair into top and bottom

Clip your hair into two sections (half up and half down) just as shown below:

Step 3 – Curl the bottom section

So to get the beach wave with your curling iron start curling the bottom sections with your chosen curling iron. Take your time and go from one side to the other. Your little sections don’t have to be perfect, just take a small handful of hair to curl. Remember when getting beach waves with a curling iron things do not have to be perfect. Beachy waves have that bed head sexy look!

Step 4: Curl the top and spray

After curling the whole bottom section, remove your clip and start curling the top half of hair in the same manor as you did the bottom sections. Pay careful attention to the hair framing your face as it literally frames your face.

I like to curl away from the face on both sides by positioning the curling iron so that the top of the clamp is facing towards your ear. After you have curled your whole head, SPRAY IT! use that Powerfix hairspray and don’t touch it for a minute or two (good time to put your make up on).

Step 5: Final touches and wrapping up

Now your whole head is curled. There are a few ways you can finish this style. You can either finger through it and piece out some of the curl. Or you can comb or brush through it. I like to use a round ceramic brush actually. Just brush ever so lightly. Then I will usually piece through some curls in the front as I am spraying it.
